Spirit of 76 LHA is a living history group dedicated to presenting and educating about 18th century soldier, sailor, and civilian lives and experiences during the era with interactive events, camps, and demonstrations. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit registered in the state of Washington.
We portray soldiers, sailors, musicians, and civilians who lived during the 18th century and American Revolutionary era. The Columbia Fife & Drum, 43rd Regiment of Foot, 3rd New Hampshire, Artillery, HMS Chatham, and Civilians are our six main units. New impressions or units appropriate to the time period are welcome.
We participate in patriotic parades throughout the year in Western Washington. We also host 18th century living history camps with military demonstrations, including the Encampment on Thompson Creek, St. George's Day Commemorative Encampment, and our 2024 Inaugural Heritage Festival. See our Events Page for more information!
These vary by unit and are based on research and availability of materials. Loaner gear is available. Don't hesitate to reach out with questions or referrals to appropriate sutlers. Reenactment clothing, supplies, and equipment collections are built over time. Don't let a lack of experience or resources deter you!
You do not need experience, equipment, or period clothing to start reenacting. A desire to learn, teach, or pitch in where needed is all that is required. Loaner gear is often available, as well as referrals to appropriate sutlers. Send a message or meet us at an upcoming event!
There is much to do as an event volunteer! Greeting the public, taking onsite donations, helping set up and take down camp, putting up flyers, and preparing event sites are some examples. You do not need to have experience in living history to volunteer. Email us to volunteer at an event!
Contributions from generous donors allows us to offer accessible living history education to all. Money is needed to host weekend events, keep the muskets firing, and build upon our period camp displays. Reach out and partner with us to keep early American history alive!
